Theology 12 - Syllabus

Class Syllabus

Course Description:
This course focuses on Christian vocations and future life choices. The course examines the dynamics of relationships in the light of Christian values. Students will be studying the different ways relationships are bound with Christian love and commitment. The course explores the sacraments of religious life and marriage with a study of the Church teachings on family life and human sexuality.

Every student is required to participate in a Senior Service Project as part of their graduation requirement. (See Handbook) Each student will be going to a service site where they will complete a specified amount of community service hours. The student will be expected to complete a final project on her service experience which will be included in her final Theology grade.

Required Materials:
There are 4 items you will need to bring with you for each class:
  1. “Christian Vocations” textbook
  2. Notebook
  3. Journal
  4. Bible

Grading System:

  • Tests - Given on each chapter 40%
  • Homework/Classwork Assignments- 25%
  • Paper/Project 15%
  • Journal Reflections 10%
  • Attendance/Class Participation - 10%
    *Note: Homework/Classwork/Journals will be graded on a 5 Point System

Expectations:
Every student is expected to be in class and on time with the required materials for class. Every student is expected to treat the teacher and their fellow peers with respect.
The classroom is a learning environment. If any student due to poor conduct or attitude prevents the teacher’s ability to teach or the ability of their fellow students to learn, they will be dismissed from that class and any disciplinary action will be at the discretion of the teacher.

Homework/Classwork: All assignments must be completed on time and at the beginning of class. If a student is absent, it is their responsibility upon returning to school to seek out the missing assignments from the teacher and complete the work by the next school day. Any assignments more than 2 days past the due date will NOT be accepted by the teacher without a written notice from a parent/guardian.

Tests/Quizzes: Students who miss a test/quiz due to absenteeism must make it up within two (2) school days. It is the student’s responsibility to schedule a time with the teacher to take the test/quiz.

Theology 11 - Syllabus

Class Syllabus


Course Description: This course examines the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church.
It is divided into 2 parts:
  1. A general look at the sacraments and their root in Jesus’ life and the Church.
  2. A close look at each individual sacrament, particularly what the sacrament celebrates, the symbolic actions and words, and the development of each sacrament throughout history.


Required Materials:
There are 3 items you will need to bring with you for each class:

  1. “Celebrating Sacraments” textbook
  2. Notebook
  3. Bible
  4. Journal

Grading System:

  • Tests - Given on each chapter 35%
  • Homework/Classwork Assignments- 15%
  • Quizzes - Given periodically 15%
  • Paper/Projects - 1 per term 15%
  • Journal Reflections 10%
  • Attendance/Class Participation - 10%

Class Syllabus

Course Description: This course focuses on learning, practicing and developing the skills needed to actively live the Catholic faith, handle our human emotions effectively, and live moral lives. Students will examine different tools for character building, living out the faith in light of the Gospel message, and conscience awareness. Students will explore different morality issues that humans are faced with in today’s changing world.

Required Materials: There are 4 items you will need to bring with you for each class:
  1. “Catholic & Capable ” Workbooks
    (How to Live our Catholic Faith, How to live a Moral Life, How to Handle Emotions)
  2. Notebook
  3. Journal
  4. Bible

Grading System:

  • Tests 25%
  • Homework/Classwork Assignments- 25%
  • Projects/Papers 25%
  • Attendance/Class Participation 15%
  • Quizzes 10%
  • Journal Reflections 10%

Course Description: This course focuses on basic principles and concepts of the Catholic faith. It examines the different foundations of the faith including Scripture, Tradition, Worship and Morality.

  1. “Path Through Catholicism” textbook
  2. Notebook
  3. Journal
  4. Bible

Grading System:
